Effective Family Time

The goal for effective family time is to focus on at least a few ways to connect with your kids.  It can feel a bit overwhelming when trying to establish family time in your home. So, what things can help you cultivate meaningful, yet simple family times?

According to Tom Connellan (in his Book, The 1%: How to Make Your Next 30 Days The Best Ever):
  • Pick one thing that you will do each day that will show your family that you love, care and want to serve them. For example, pray with them, encourage them, do a chore for them.
  • Repeatedly do that one thing each day over and over again for 30-days in order to make it a habit.
Sometimes we can overthink what it takes- or don't extend enough creative energy- to have better relationships with our children and teens. It is really simple. If the dad of the seventh-grade boy who has never prayed with him prays with him, it will make a greater impact than anything else in that boy's life.
