{Toddler/Preschool Ministry} Christmas Countdown!

Christmas Countdown!

We’re having a “Christmas Countdown” this year, and we want you to be a part of it! Children love counting down to anything (How many times have you said 3, 2, 1, blast off?), and we wanted to bring that excitement into the Christmas season.

While your child is busy learning the Christmas story at church, you can be busy making fun family memories at home!

We’ve given you all the materials you need to make a Christmas Countdown chain. But, we actually want you to take it past Christmas. Ultimately, it should go throughout the month of December because we can celebrate Jesus EVERY day.

To make your chain, decide if you’re going to take off a link every day, every other day, every Friday night. When are you going to do your activities? Once you’ve counted out the number of paper strips you need, choose the activities you want your family to do and stick them on the paper strips. If you have traditional family activities, write those on a paper strip! Finally, make a paper chain with the LAST activity you want to do at the TOP and the FIRST activity you want to do at the bottom. Find a special place in your home to hang the chain.

At the designated time, help your child remove the bottom link and read what that day’s activity will be. (Here’s a hint: make sure you have the supplies on hand!) Be prepared to enjoy this special time with your child and family as you celebrate the greatest gift we’ve ever received.

Merry Christmas!
