Summer @ New Life Kids!

This Summer at New Life Kids is going to be awesome!

We have a new group of Summer Small Group Leaders who will be with your kids during the 9:15 and 11:15 am services. They are psyched and ready to have a blast with them.


Here's what we are teaching your kids this Summer:

Preschool Ministry (Toddlers-Preschool):

Last month your kids learned the creation story, this month we continue that story to learn that GOD MAKES GOOD THINGS in our Creation Station series!

Pick up a Memory Verse card and help your child memorize Genesis 1:31 on Sunday!

Our memory verse cards come with instructions on the hand motions to the verse.

Elementary Ministry (K-5th Grade)

This month in our Elementary Ministry kids are continuing their EPIC series. Last month we talked about TRUST... This month it's all about LOVE. Which is choosing to give someone your time and friendship no matter what.

Why is this important? Well, because we are talking about loving God. How can you love God? Jesus said you love God by loving others. 

We'll be sending home ParentCue sheets for you parents and God Time cards for the kids to do to help them explore and discover what it means to LOVE God and others. One of God's greatest commandments.

Matthew 22:39 is our memory verse for the month. Help your kids memorize it!

{Elementary} April: "Puzzled"- Hope

Our theme this month is Puzzled: Believing There’s a Bigger Picture. In all of our lives, there are times when we can only see one piece of what’s going on, and it can be hard to picture something good coming out of it.

As we get ready to celebrate Easter, we’ll define HOPE as believing that something good can come out of something bad. We’ll look at five different Bible stories focusing on Jesus and some of the people who knew Him best.

Hi Parents!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It's a new year and a new month.  And that means we have NEW THEMES in our Preschool (Nursery, Toddler & Preschoolers) and Elementary (K-5th grade) environments.

At New Life Kids we want to give you tools, tips and Cues for different ways you can have conversations about the things of God in your home with your kids. You can piggy back off of what the kids are learning at church and do your own family time devotions, and even take advantage of some of the games and converstion starters we provide for you every month (via Parent Cue sheets).

Have you ever noticed that when you ask a kid a question in church, their default answer, if they don’t really know the answer, will be “God?” Or coming in a close second—hand frantically waving in the air—“Jesus!”

And really, most questions can be answered in some way with God or Jesus. That’s because God is the ultimate source of knowledge—and that’s the characteristic of God we’re learning about this month as we kick off a new school year. It’s in the story of God that we find the character of God, so we’re headed to the Gospel of Luke to learn from His Son, Jesus, as He grew up.

Did you know that the Bible only gives us one story and one comment on the life of Jesus from the time He was a preteen until He’s a thirty-something starting His ministry? It’s our memory verse for the month (Luke 2:52) and it tells us that Jesus spent time studying God’s Word, and that He grew in His relationship with God, in His ability to make wise choices and in His ability to love others.

{Elementary} The Faith Flyers

Last Sunday (6/5/11), we gave out "Faith Flyers" (pictured above) to kids in our 1-3rd grade environment.  They were such a big hit that we ran out!  Kids from other environments were trying to get them as well! Kindergarteners as well as 4th & 5th Graders. It was crazy!
If you are a parent with a kid in 1-5th Grade and your child didn't get one, maybe they didn't come this past Sunday, you're probably wondering "Where can I get one for my kid(s)?"

{Elementary} CUE Box

CUE Box is designed to help prompt you as a parent to know how and when to connect with your child about spiritual issues. By providing daily and weekly CUEs, we are hoping to make faith an integral part of your everyday lives together.

CUE Box works directly with the curriculum we are using in our 1-6th Grade environments. It is designed to work with the regular rhythms in your family life not add things to your to do list.

{Elementary} Bucket List

Bucket List

 
Few things are more useful than a bucket. A bucket is simple genius, really. There's almost no end to what you can do with a bucket. Put it on your head and you're ready to go jousting. Turn it upside down and you can reach the cookies on the top shelf. Bail water out of your boat, slop the pigs, or play trashketball with one--what you put IN the bucket is key.

We tend to put things in buckets that are important to us. Things that we don't want to let go of, burdensome things, as often as not, like pain, hurt, disappointment, and disillusionment. And we

{Elementary} May 2011:: Forgiveness

Kids in our 1st-3rd and 4th-6th Grade environments will be learning about Forgiveness this month.  We define it this way:

{Elementary} April:: Week 1 **NEW BIG IDEA!

This week kicks off a new virtue, that of humility. We’ve defined humility as putting others first by giving up what you think you deserve. 

It’s natural for kids to think “me, me, me.” God designed babies and small children to be concerned about themselves: they demand attention when they need something. Otherwise, they wouldn’t get what they need to thrive. With age and maturity, God enables them to gradually start taking into account others’ needs. (Most are able to put themselves in someone else’s shoes around the age of seven.) But they need adults to guide them to do this. No one is a better example of humility than Jesus. He left heaven—His rightful place—to come here, after all! He consistently showed us how important we are to Him. And He wants us to do the same for others. “I, your Lord

{Elementary} March:: Fear Factor

Is bravery or courage really the same thing as fearlessness, being free from fear? Perhaps you're thinking that one man's "brave" is another man's "stupid." After all, fear is natural and normal in certain situations and keeps us healthy. Fear prompts us to flee from avalanches. A reasonable fear of germs reminds us to wash our hands. "Fear" of one's parents, or at least of losing privileges, encourages teens to get home by curfew. A lack of fear can land us in a heap of trouble. But then so can the opposite extreme: living in fear.

God knows this world can be a scary place, and all of us at some point will need true grit in order to stand up to it. Thankfully, God doesn't expect us not to be afraid (check out this month's memory verse, Psalm 56:3). But just as important, He doesn't want us to live enslaved to fear either (2 Timothy 1:7). So, no, we can't really expect to live free of fear but we CAN live free from fear.

{Elementary} February: Kindness

Hi Elementary School Parents,

We are approaching February, a new month, and that means a... NEW VIRTUE!  Here's a sneak peak of what kids will be seeing this coming Sunday.

A Virtue is something God does in us, to change the world around us!

Now doesn't that look like fun! ;) We will be talking about Kindness for the entire month of February.

Kindness is showing others they are valuable by how you treat them.
