New Life Kids Discipleship Process

Stage 1: Get your kids plugged into a consistent Small Group-

(All Ages)
At New Life Fellowship/New Life Kids, we know that no one has more potential to influence your child than you do. We also know that you are not the only influence your child needs.

God has designed everyone to need and connect with others. We know that every kid needs a group of friends who believe what they believe. Your children one day will seek affirmation and approval from peers and adults other than you. You can leave them alone to discover random influencers that will shape their character and faith, or you can help them proactively pursue strategic relationships for their lives.

So, we invite you to bring your child to a consistent service time so they can get connected to a consistent group of friends and a consistent leader. NL Kids Small Groups meet regularly on Sunday mornings at 9:00am, 10:30am and 12:30pm.

The first step in your child's discipleship is to choose a service you will to take him/her to CONSISTENTLY.

Stage 2: Parents and Kids attend We Believe- (K-5th Grade)

If your child seems ready for the next step in their faith journey, it’s probably a good time to attend We Believe with your child. We Believe is a unique presentation for parents and kids where we share God’s plan for salvation (via John 3:16).

We share the gospel with parents and children and afterwards you’ll go home with your child, with homework and tools to continue the conversation at home and invite your child to a personal relationship with Jesus using the guide provided. A New Life Staff person will be in touch with you that same week to offer help and answer any questions you may have. From there you will receive an invitation to have a Next Steps Interview! We are here to serve you as you lead your family.

Stage 3: Next Steps Interview-

After attending We Believe, and if your child has made the decision to trust Christ as savior, awesome! Your child is ready to go to the next step in our NL Kids Discipleship Process. You will receive an appointment for you and your child to attend a Next Steps Interview. You and your child will have the opportunity to sit and meet with a New Life Kids Leader to talk about his/her decision to trust Christ.  From there, a staff member will invite you to Kid Launch our Discipleship Class.

If however your child was not ready, that’s ok. We certainly don’t want to push kids to make a decision they’re not ready for. Just continue to dialogue with your child and, if you need to, you can even attend the We Believe presentation again. A staff member will call you the same week of We Believe and will help you decide what’s the best next step for you and your child.

Stage 4: Kid Launch!- (Our first discipleship class. K-5th Grade)

A class for kids and parents where they learn about what it means to be a Christian. Some of the topics that will be discussed are the following:
•    I’m a Christian… now what?
•    Connect – Grow – Serve for kids.
•    Baptism? What is it and do I have to do it?

Kids will have a chance to ask questions, and you as a parent will get more ideas on how you can help your child grow in his/her faith. You and your child will also have a chance to talk about a plan of action of what they want to do to keep growing as a Christian.

Stage 5: Family Baptism Celebration

Baptism is a huge part of a kid’s and an adult’s walk with Christ. It’s a public declaration of a new association. Your child is going public with their faith. They are telling their friends and family that they’ve chosen to follow Jesus!

We create an exciting and fun environment to celebrate this BIG milestone in your child’s life. We baptize kids as they share their faith story. We hang balloons, eat cake and invite family and friends to lay hands on them to pray a blessing over their lives. All of this makes it a memorable event for them and for you as a family.

Stage 6: Ongoing Discipleship Classes- (K-5th Grade)

New Life Kids plans on creating and designing kid specific discipleship classes to help them continue to CONNECT with others, GROW in their faith journey, and SERVE others in a way that helps their faith expand.

Topics we hope to bring to New Life Kids (Classes for kids and their parents):
•    “Kontemplative Kid” (Introducing kids to reflection and contemplation in communion with God)
•    Emotionally Healthy Skills for Kids & Their parents
•    And others!

The dates and topics for these ongoing classes are to be determined.
